At Kennesaw State University, graduation doesn’t mark the end of a journey. Rather, it signifies the launch of an entirely new adventure. It’s a time during which thousands of Owls transition from inquisitive learners to innovative doers, from students to the next generation of business leaders, teachers, engineers, artists and healthcare workers. A time in which far-flung families descend upon Kennesaw State to laud the achievements of their loved ones. In celebration of those turning the page to a new chapter, KSU honored more than 2,500 students in its Fall 2021 Commencement ceremonies this week.

Kennesaw State students participate in annual Pumpkin Launch

The familiar yell of “fire in the hole” rang out on Kennesaw State University’s Marietta Campus during the annual Pumpkin Launch on Monday afternoon. Approximately 270 first-year mechanical engineering students showed off weeks of hard work as they lined up 16-foot-tall slingshots, catapults and trebuchets, capable of launching pumpkins across the Neusoft Technologies Field.

Kennesaw State receives gift to support engineering programs

The need for talented engineers in Georgia and across the country has grown exponentially, and a recent gift to Kennesaw State University’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET) will support programs across several departments. Leaders from SPCEET and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. came together yesterday to celebrate the partnership and its future impact on KSU students, during an event on the University’s Marietta campus.

Lori Lowder readily admits the road to STEM isn’t always straight. Some students don’t fully realize their passion for the field until they begin their undergraduate studies, where many of them encounter mentors who help shape their futures and guide them on the path toward success. Such was the case for Lowder, a professor of mechanical engineering in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, who originally wanted to pursue a medical career until learning the social impact of engineers.

Kennesaw State Electric Vehicle Team wins several accolades in national competition

Kennesaw State University’s Electric Vehicle Team won big at its latest competition, setting a track record and bringing home first place in the autonomous division, and second place in the driven competition. The team, part of the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET), traveled to Purdue University to compete in the evGrand Prix, an annual, electric go-kart racing event.

Kennesaw State's Research with Relevance showcase returns as hybrid event

— Kennesaw State University’s Office of Research is gearing up to launch the fourth season of its Research with Relevance – Friday Features series, this time spotlighting the research of four deans throughout the fall semester. The new Deans’ Showcase series will launch on Friday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m., featuring Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology Dean Ian Ferguson.
